From lollypops to gas prices, here is your chance to ask Dawkus anything.
Q. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
The egg had to have come first. See, two non chickens hooked up and through the miracle of life had a chicken egg. The egg hatched, and Voila!, the bird that everything tastes like was born!
Q. Why is the sky blue?
A. Because it was hoping Chris Daughtry would be the next American Idol. Truth be told, the reason why the sky is blue is because when the transmitted light from the sun passes through the Earth's atmosphere, it collides with oxygen and nitrogen. A scatter effect occurs with the the light's wavelengths, and the shorter the wavelength of light the more it scatters. The shortest of these wavelengths would be blue. That is why we see the sky as blue.
Q. How come we pay so much for gas?
We don't compared to some countries. The Average price of gas in the United States for unleaded Regular is $2.88 a gallon. Try $4.24 a gallon in Japan. In Germany the cry of "Ich bin ein Berliner!" might be instead "Ich bin ein Berliner zahlen der hohen Gaspreise!" as they are paying $5.57 for a gallon of gas. The party capital of the world and home to the first red light distrtict, Amsterdam, comes in at Number One with a $6.48 price tag for gas. I think I would walk or ride a bike! Not all countries suffer from the high cost of gasoline. Venezuela comes in at an amazing 12 cents a gallon.
Q. What is the sound of one hand clapping?
Start off by clapping with two hands. Now remove one. There is the sound of one hand clapping.
Q. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?
The Owl says three. I think the average is more like between 150 to 200 licks. It would really depend on how moist your tongue is.
Email your questions to Dawkus, and he will use them in a future article! Leave your name and location (city, state, website, whatever) if you'd like. |
