We All Have a Reason for Being Here

It's really sad, but true. Most people find very little meaning in their lives. So many people are scared of death and the possibility that there is nothing else to experience after we die, that they choose to squander what little time we have on this planet by trying to escape reality. We go about the day to day as if in a trance. Some people live for the weekends so they can get smashed out of their minds through drugs and alcohol, while others live their lives around the television set.
What do we watch on television? Reality television. Of course it's Hollywood's reality, so instead of watching the boss chew you out for being late for work, or finding out your girlfirend is a whore to everyone but you, we watch people all excited about playing goofy obstacle courses on an island to see who can become the ultimate survivor. Geez, Why don't they come up with some real reality shows? Like "Hey Honey, I'm Pregnant, but It's Not Yours!" You have to find out which guy from a preselected group banged your girl when you were at work making sure the bills got paid. I'd watch the fuck out of that show. I'd also watch "I Gave Up My Dream to be Something Big in the Entertainment Industry Because People Told Me I Suck." Of course that one ends up proving everyone wrong.
Look, we all have dreams, and we all want to be something more than the person who asks the all important question, "Do you want fries with that?" If you have the desire, the drive, and the sheer insanity it takes to follow your dreams, then don't let anyone stop you. It's not worth it. One axiom I have kept close to mind: It's better to have tried and failed, than to have never tried at all. |
